CHELSEA JOHNS’S FIRST NOVEL

From Daisy Lane

Three decades. One unforgettable family.

Kate Bennett was a latchkey kid with a banana-seat bicycle and one dream: a house full of children, cookies in the oven, a mother at the curb with orange slices — the opposite, in every way she could count, of the home she was pedaling circles around.

Then she grew up and met Jack — a dreamer who loved her enough to stay — and together they built it: six kids, a fifteen-passenger van, a kitchen that never closed, a house on Daisy Lane where everyone gathered for anything, everything, and even nothing at all.

Nobody warned her that dreams grow up too.

Now, in a quieter house in Tennessee, 2000 miles from Daisy Lane, the bedrooms are emptying one at a time, her first grandchild has just arrived, and Kate is learning that the hardest part of getting everything you wanted is watching it learn to drive — and discovering who you are once it drives away.

Told across three decades of one unforgettable family, From Daisy Lane is a story about mothers and daughters, about losses that arrive alongside gifts, and about the discovery that people stay in different ways — even after they're gone. It will make you laugh, hand you a lump in your throat, and send you straight to the phone to call your mother — or your kids.
